City Center YMCA: Assistant Group Supervisor (AGS) for SACC (School Age Child Care)

The Assistant Group Supervisor (AGS) is responsible for providing a high quality learning experience, which promotes a developmental approach to the social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth of the after school children. Creates a working relationship with parents for the purpose of best serving their children. Responsible to notify the SACC Lead Supervisor of any special problems with children, parents or other coworkers in a timely manner. Will provide positive communication with parents by giving advice and information about their child on a daily informal basis. Will be required to enforce program rules and structure consistently and reinforce positive behavior and redirect negative behavior. Will demonstrate the YMCA core values and incorporate them into the day’s activities and teach them to the participants so they know them and can demonstrate them throughout the day. Will provide consistent supervision with a focus on safety for the participants at all times. This includes abiding by all YMCA safety policies and regulations including Child Abuse Prevention standards, completing incident/accident reports, sign in/sign out procedures, taking attendance, etc.

Position follows the 2016/2017 school year from 2:45pm – 6pm on regular school days and every second Wednesday from 12:30pm — 6pm, as well as several full days throughout the school year. Position averages 15 hours per week.

High school diploma/GED required with a minimum 2 years documented experience working with children. Certifications required include First Aid/CPR, physical with TB test and state mandated clearances (Criminal, Child Abuse, FBI).
