YMCA Association

Full-time:

Human Resource Generalist  

Under the direction of the CFO, the HR Generalist will collaborate with the senior leadership team to provide support and maintenance in all functions of the HR Department to include; benefit administration, salary/performance evaluation process, job descriptions, employee recruitment and on-boarding, employee handbook, policies & procedures, retirement plan, unemployment compensation, worker’s compensation and FMLA/ADA.  Will act as staff liaison to various committees of the board to build volunteer relationships, develop policies, oversee policy implementation and meet the related needs of the board.  This position will also be a support for HR Assistant along with assisting the Executive Leadership Team with projects as needed. This position requires a team player with the ability to effectively work with members, staff and volunteers and to integrate the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility into all relationships between the community and the Y organization.  Must have current knowledge and understanding of state and federal laws regarding employment regulations.  Must possess excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal and project management skills.  Must be able to proactively listen to others to understand issues and situations along with the ability to exercise judgment, make decisions, identify problems and implement solutions.  Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in human resources management, business administration, or related field and/or 5+ years of proven experience in a HR Generalist role.  Non-Profit experience a plus. PHR or SPHR certification preferred. This is a full-time, hourly position.

Chief Financial Officer (CFO)  

This position will oversee and manage financial matters, investments, and information systems along with providing direction and leadership for the Y’s business operations and strategic initiatives.  Will create fiscal management systems, controls and assist with development of policies ensuring their implementation.  Also responsible for adherence of the accounting and reporting standards, providing council to the CEO and executive leadership team in the implementation of fiduciary practices ensuring fiscal health.  This position also oversees and manages all functions of the HR Department to ensure compliance with all current Federal, State and local laws and requirements. CFO oversees the implementation and support for all computers, networking and phone systems. This is a full-time, salaried position.

Qualifications: BA in Finance/Accounting; certifications is a plus. Previous experience managing functions of an HR Department.Must have strong fiscal management experience, strategic planning and leadership skills. Non-profit experience is a plus.

Part-time:

Nutrition Coach

The Lancaster Family YMCA is currently hiring a Nutrition Coach to travel to our 3 Branches (City, Lampeter-Strasburg, and New Holland) to assist with our PPA (Project Pounds Away) Program and other programs as needed.  Qualified candidate will be required to work various days/times as needed for programs.  Nutrition degree and/or certification from accredited source required.  Registered Dietician certification preferred along with previous experience working with nutrition coaching and counseling. This is a hourly, part-time position.

Executive Assistant

This position exists to improve CEO effectiveness in strengthening the Y brand, building positive relationships with all constituents, meeting organizational goals and advancing the Y’s mission impact. The successful candidate will compose and type correspondence to include mailings and maintain CEO’s calendar of activities, meetings and events including room set-up and preparation. Will also schedule conferences, travel arrangements and manage CEO telephone communications, mail and office supplies. Confirms meeting attendance and maintains attendance records. Will attend meetings with CEO as required and will be responsible to prepare meeting agenda, minutes and materials for CEO review prior to distribution for meeting as also responsible for all distribution to attendees at meetings along with set up of any IT needs. Will design, establish, organize and maintain various files both physical and electronic along with maintaining Board and committee records. Will also assist with other members of the Executive Leadership Team and with general office administrative tasks as needed.  We are looking for an individual who is detailed, organized, has great communication skills and is very welcoming and hospitable. Experience working with Outlook Office and IT hardware set-up/operation required.  The hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 12:00 noon (flexible).  This is an part-time, hourly position.

YMCA Extended Day Program – Enrichment Instructor

(Openings for Wickersham, Price & Ross Elementary Schools)

This position will be responsible for the direct supervision of students enrolled in the Wickersham, Ross & Price Elementary School Extended Day Programs managed by the YMCA.  Will be required to implement and deliver program components of the YMCA 4 Core Values; caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.  Under the direction of the SACC (School Age Child Care Coordinator) this position will implement after school programs and provides instructions to students enrolled in the Program, will communicate with school personnel on program activities and prepare tentative syllabus for Enrichment Club.  Will manage documentation of student’s goal(s), attendance records and reports as needed for the Program.  Will be required to  inform Program Assistant of any needs and/or concerns relating to the program and work collaboratively to prepare planned activities and ensure proper coverage for classes when absent.  Communication with parents, teachers and others will be required to provide information on program activities, student progress or related concerns.  Will also be responsible to maintain, clean and organize the classroom in which the program is being held.  Minimum of High school diploma is required with over 1 year of experience performing similar work with school age children.  Experience as an instructional aide or a paraprofessional in an educational setting helpful.  This is a part-time, hourly position.

YMCA Association Summer Day Camp

We are currently hiring for the following camp positions at all 3 Branches.  Qualified candidates for Summer Day Camp Aide, Assistant Group Supervisor (AGS) and Group Supervisor (GS) will be required to begin work the week of 6/1/15 through 8/21/15 and hours will vary from 7 AM until 6 PM.  When applying, be specific as to the position and branch you are applying for (City Center YMCA, Lampeter-Strasburg YMCA or YMCA at New Holland).

Aide

Group Supervisor (GS)

Qualified candidate must be able to demonstrate the YMCA Core Values and incorporate them into the day’s activities along with the ability to provide high-quality childcare to the children of the Lancaster Family YMCA Camp Program.   Will be required to implement and oversee weekly activity planning and to oversee and manage on-site staff in Coordinator’s absence and have the responsibility to report any violations of policy or staff concerns promptly.  Will assist and lead educational and fun activities each day, remaining highly interactive with the children at all times.  Will be required to provide consistent supervision with a focus on safety for the children at all times along with creating a good working relationship with parents for the purpose of best serving their children.  Will be responsible to conduct supply and snack inventory and communicate needs to the Coordinator.  Will be required to participate in continuing education, trainings and weekly staff meetings. Required Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field or Associate’s Degree in Education or related field.  Required 1 yr. experience working with children.

 

Child Care Center

Part-time:

Assistant Group Supervisor/Acting as a Teaching Assistant

This position will be responsible to lead the group when the Group Supervisor or Director is not present and to provide high quality childcare to the children in the YMCA Child Care Program.  Will assist in the implementation of daily activities under the guidance of the Group Supervisor or Director.  Will be responsible to provide consistent supervision with a focus on safety for the participants at all times.  This includes abiding by all YMCA safety policies and regulations including Child Abuse Prevention standards, completing incident/accident reports, sign in/sign out procedures and taking attendance in a consistent manner each day.  Will be required to meet and greet parents and children each day when they arrive to create a working relationship with parents for the purpose of best serving their children.   Will demonstrate the YMCA Core Values at all times and incorporate them into the day’s activities.  Will need to communicate child and or parent concerns and supply needs to Group Supervisor in a timely matter.  Must have dependable transportation, able to life over 30 lbs., lead activities in a gymnasium as well as in a classroom, and able to walk to nearby facilities for program activities.  Minimum of a high school diploma or GED plus documented 2,500 hours experience working with children. We are currently looking for individuals available for the following shifts: Monday – Friday, 6 AM to 10 AM or Monday – Friday, 12 PM to 6 PM, or Monday – Friday 2 to 6 PM. This is an hourly, part-time position.

City Center YMCA

Part-time:

Assistant Group Supervisor (AGS) for SACC (School Age Child Care)

The incumbent is responsible for providing a high quality learning experience, which promotes a developmental approach to the social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth of the after school children. Will be responsible to meet and greet parents and children each day when they arrive.  Create a working relationship with parents for the purpose of best serving their children.  Responsible to notify the SACC Coordinator of any special problems with children, parents or other coworkers in a timely manner.  Will provide positive communication with parents by giving advice and information about their child on a daily informal basis.  Will be required to enforce program rules and structure consistently and reinforce positive behavior and redirect negative behavior.  Will demonstrate the YMCA core values and incorporate them into the day’s activities and teach them to the participants so they know them and can demonstrate them throughout the day. Will provide consistent supervision with a focus on safety for the participants at all times.  This includes abiding by all YMCA safety policies and regulations including Child Abuse Prevention standards, completing incident/accident reports, sign in/sign out procedures, taking attendance, etc.  Education – Minimum high school diploma or GED.  Experience -   Minimum 2 years documented experience working with children.  Certifications -  First Aid/CPR, Fire Safety Training, Water Safety Training. This is a part time, non-exempt position.

Child Care Provider

The qualified candidate will provide high quality childcare to the children in the YMCA Child Watch Program at our City Center Y. Must have the ability to communicate in a clear, positive manner to the children, parents, staff and members. This position will assist and lead educational and fun activities during the work shift along with providing consistent supervision with a focus on safety for the children at all times. Will demonstrate the YMCA core values at all times by incorporating them into the day’s activities. This position will be required to attend required training and monthly staff meetings. Must be able to physically lift over 30 lbs. and be able to lead activities in a gymnasium as well as in a classroom.  Must be able to work various shifts as needed to include: Monday – 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday – 3:30 to 8:00 PM, Saturday – 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM and occasional Sundays – 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM.  This position will average approximately 15 hours/week.   1 year experience working with children required.  This is an hourly, part-time position.

Group Exercise Instructors

We are currently recruiting for instructors to sub teach Group Exercise classes.  This position will have the opportunity to substitute regular classes at the YMCA as well as the possibility to instruct regularly scheduled YMCA classes.  Qualified candidates will be responsible for the planning, teaching, instructing and retention of their group class.  Availability to sub during scheduled classes needed.  This is an hourly, part-time position.

Body Pump Class Instructors

Currently hiring Instructors to teach Body Pump Classes on Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays during the mid morning hours, averaging 1-3 hours per week. Instructor must be Body Pump Instructor certified and have previous experience teaching group exercise classes.  This is an hourly, part-time position.

Tai Chi Instructors

Currently hiring instructors to teach Tai Chi classes on Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays during the mid morning hours averaging 1-3 hours per week.  Instructor must be Tai Chi Instructor certified and have previous experience teaching group exercise classes.  This is an hourly, part-time position.

Lifeguards/Aquatics Class Instructors

Certified lifeguards needed to work year-round at our City Branch indoor pool. Qualified candidates must have current lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications. 1-2 years of guarding experience is preferred. We are especially looking for availability to work the following shifts: 8:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and/or 12:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  We also have various hours available for Aquatics Class Instructors who are WSI/YSI certified. This is an hourly, part-time position.

Swim Lesson Instructor

We are looking to hire Swim Lesson Instructors who will be able to work year around at the City Center Y.  WSI/YSI certified or comparable experience required for this position.  Preferred experience teaching preschool and/or school age group swim lessons but willing to train.  Various work hours are available to teach Monday through Friday, days/evenings and Saturdays.  This is a hourly, part-time position.

Lampeter-Strasburg YMCA

Lifeguards

We are now hiring certified lifeguards to work year-round.  Qualified candidates must have current Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications. 1-2 years of guarding experience is preferred. Various shifts/hours are available Monday through Sunday, averaging 10 to 20 hours/wk.   This is an hourly, part-time position.

Swim Lesson Instructors

WSI/YSI certified or comparable experience required for this position. Preferred experience teaching preschool and/or school age group swim lessons but willing to train. We are looking for individuals with flexibility to work any of the following shifts: Tuesdays/Wednesdays/Thursdays from 3-8 PM, Saturdays from 8 AM to 12 noon. This is a part-time, hourly position.

YMCA at New Holland

Part-time:

Floor Trainer
This position will be responsible to promote growth & retention through positive member experiences by monitoring work area, equipment, members and volunteers for safe and working operation at all times. Will effectively manage facility area to ensure it is inviting to members and staff and be required to interact with members while working on the floor by providing feedback on appropriate form and answer questions related to training. Will also provide members with a safe and basic routine to build upon as they continue to frequent the YMCA and promote programs and upcoming events. Will maintain cleanliness of the wellness center and communicate facility and equipment needs to the Health and Wellness Director. We are currently looking for individuals who have the availability to work any of the following shifts: 1:00-4:00 PM any day and 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM Tuesdays/Fridays.  This is a part-time, hourly position.

Water Aerobics Instructor  

We are currently recruiting individuals who are experienced instructors to teach our Aqua Flow Class (Yoga/Pilates based) and sub as needed.  This class is conducted on Fridays from 11:00 to 11:45 AM.  The qualified candidate will possess experience in leading an exercise group in aquatics or related area.  Aquatic Fitness and/or Water Aerobic Certification preferred.  This is an hourly, part-time position.

Lifeguards

Qualified candidates must have current lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications. 1-2 years of guarding experience is preferred. We are especially looking for applicants who have the availability to work any of the following shifts:  Weeknights – 3:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. or 5:15 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Weekends – Saturdays 6:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Sundays 11:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  This position would average approximately 15 to 20 hours per week.  This is a hourly, part-time position.
