Swim Lessons

Swim lessons not only keep kids safe in the water, they can also be the first step in learning to lifeguard, being part of a swim team and exercising through lap swimming. Our experienced Y instructors emphasize personal safety, swimming skills, endurance and social skills, while guiding students with praise and encouragement. Swim lessons are available for individuals of all ages and abilities. If you are unsure of your child’s swim level, a swim evaluation will ensure that your child is placed in the proper class.

Class size is determined by considering participants’ abilities and ages, thus ensuring classes are of adequate size for safety and comfort. Private and semi-private lessons are also available.

The Lancaster Family YMCA offers swim lessons throughout the year in 8-week sessions/1 class per week. Evening and Saturday morning classes are available at all branches. The YMCA at New Holland also offers Monday and Wednesday morning classes.

Program Registration
YMCA programs are open to Y Members and Non-Members. Y Members receive special pricing on programs.

Registration Dates
Members: Begins the 10th of the month prior to the start of the program
Non-Members: Begins the 20th of the month prior to the start of the program

Registration for Group Swim Lessons closes the 25th of the month prior to the start of the next session of classes.

Any exceptions to this schedule will be noted in the program description. Program registration is completed at our Branch Welcome Desks. Any exceptions will be noted in the program description.

Financial Scholarship is provided to those who qualify. Applications are available at the Welcome Desk.
