Teachers & Support Staff Needed for Summer Learning Program

POWER SCHOLARS ACADEMY™ PROGRAM

Location: Carter and MacRae Elementary School with School District of Lancaster students

This summer learning program is designed to address summer learning loss for low-income children living in urban communities and thereby enhance overall youth development, academic performance, and graduation rates.

Site Manager (SM): The SM will report to the Executive Director and is responsible for overseeing site operations. Key duties include overseeing site staff and working with school administrators on a day-to-day basis. SM will also work with YMCA staff to coordinate enrichment programs, volunteer management, and program events; specific activities with Y staff. SM is present June 26 – July 28, Monday-Friday from 8 am-3 pm with required training prior to the program. SM must have Bachelor’s Degree, a minimum of three years’ experience working with elementary-aged students and at least one year in a program/staff supervisor role.

Instructional Coach (IC): The IC will report to the Site Manager and will be responsible for overseeing uniform use of curricula and providing oversight, training and guidance to the Academic Teachers and Assistant Teachers. The IC is present June 26 – July 28, Monday-Friday from 8 am-3 pm with required training prior to the program.  IC must be a certified teacher with a minimum of three years’ classroom experience.

Lead Teachers (LT): LTs will report to the Site Manager and maintain a close relationship with the Instructional Coach. Duties include overall preparation, teaching, and support to the students. LTs are present June 26 – July 28, Monday-Friday from 8 am-3 pm with required training prior to the program.  LT must be a certified teacher with a minimum of two years’ elementary classroom experience.

Enrichment Teachers (ET): ETs will report to the Site Manager. ETs will be responsible for developing and implementing enrichment classes, supporting Assistant Teachers, and scholar supervision during guest speaker engagements. ETs are present June 26 – July 28, Monday-Friday from 8 am-3 pm with required training prior to the program. ET must have a minimum high school diploma and two years working with elementary-age students.  We will happily accept applicants who wish to share their skills and talents and lead their own enrichment class (ie sports, music, art, etc).

Assistant Teachers (AT): ATs will be responsible to the Site Manager, although supervised day-to-day by Academic Teachers and Enrichment Teachers, and will be responsible for supporting the academic (cognitive), physical and social-emotional development of scholars. ATs are present June 26 – July 28, Monday-Friday from 8 am-3 pm with required training prior to the program. AT must have a minimum of a high school diploma and two years’ experience with elementary-aged
