In partnership with BELL (Building Educated Leaders for Life), the Y and School District of Lancaster, Power Scholars Academy™ offers summer learning for youth in grades Kindergarten-4. The goal of this program is to increase students’ academic success, boost self-confidence and engage families.
Registration is first-come-first-serve. No exceptions.
** Please note: Power Scholars Academy is only available to children in the School District of Lancaster who have received a scholarship to attend the program.
Power Scholars Academy Schedule
Monday, June 24 – Thursday, August 1
Mondays – Thursdays, 8:00 am – 3:00 pm.
There is no programming on Fridays or the week of July 1.
Children are required to attend daily and be signed in no later than 8:10 am and signed out promptly at 3:00 pm.
A Typical Day Includes:
Students, called scholars, start the day with breakfast and community time activity to develop leadership skills and strong friendships with fellow scholars and staff.
Certified teachers lead literacy instruction using a customized Scholastic curriculum. The curriculum focuses on the priority skills critical for student success: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
Certified teachers lead math instruction using a customized curriculum developed by Scholastic. The curriculum focuses on foundational concepts to prepare students for the deep mathematical understandings of the Common Core State Standards and is designed as a supplemental program for rising grade 1-5 scholars.
Lunch & Recreation
Scholars eat lunch and spend approximately 30 minutes engaging in recess.
Scholars rotate through enrichment opportunities during the afternoon. Themes typically include Life and Leadership Development, STEM, Health and Fitness and Creative Arts (music, dance, art).
On select Fridays scholars will attend a field trip off-site.
