Procedures to Keep You Safe

At the YMCA, our greatest priority has always been protecting the health and safety of all who enter our doors. In light of COVID-19, we’ve been working to implement new processes and procedures.

What You Can Expect

Enhanced Cleaning & Disinfecting
We are implementing the latest cleaning protocols from the CDC using our EPA-registered solution. Areas of our facilities will have rolling, brief closures throughout the day and branch hours will be reduced to allow for additional disinfection. We’ve adjusted our air handling units to ensure an even higher turnover of fresh air into our branches.

Retraining Staff
Our staff is being retrained on the latest cleaning and disinfection protocols provided by the CDC and will be focused on continual sanitization of all areas of our facility. Additionally, each branch will have a Health & Security Associate who will oversee and enforce all safety and security protocols, including requiring members to wipe down fitness equipment before and after use.

Social Distancing
We’ve reconfigured spaces to allow for social distancing and added clear directional signage throughout our branches to direct the flow of traffic. You’ll find fitness equipment spaced out, lobbies free of excess furniture and markers on the floor to make social distancing easy.

Sanitation Stations
Additional hand sanitizing stations will be available throughout our branches.

As ordered by the State of Pennsylvania, staff, members and visitors will need to wear face masks.

Health Checks
All staff, members and visitors will be temperature-checked prior to entering the facility. Anyone exhibiting a fever or signs of illness will not be permitted to enter.

Single Entry/Exit Points
To maintain our safety protocols, all YMCA branches will maintain single entry and single exit points. Our doors will be clearly marked with signs.

Amenity Availability
To protect your health and safety, we are not able to immediately reopen all amenities. This includes, but is not limited to: Child Watch, saunas,  hot tub, towel service and pools. As soon as we are confident we can open these areas safely, we will.

Member Tag Scanning
As always, all will be required to scan in at the welcome desk to access the facility. Stationary scanners will be available for contactless scanning. Plexiglass shields have been installed at our welcome desks so that you are able to safely talk with staff.

Water Fountains
To protect everyone’s health, water fountains will not be available. However, you will be able to use the bottle fillers.

Special Hours for Seniors
Special hours for our senior members will be implemented should they feel safer using the Y at a time when only other senior members are present.

Updated Member Code of Conduct
Members will be required to sign an updated member code of conduct, agreeing to follow the new procedures we are implementing to help keep everyone safe.
