Reopening Letter to Our Members

We’ve missed you at the Lancaster Family YMCA City Center and Lampeter Strasburg branches! The past several months have been so challenging for all of us.  We are thrilled to announce that we are taking steps to reopen our facilities and reactivate key programs in the very near future. We cannot wait to welcome you back to the Y.

Our wellness floors will reopen on Monday, September 14, 2020. As we prepare to reopen our doors, please be assured that your safety – and the safety of all our members, program participants, staff and volunteers – is our number one priority. We’re following guidelines from health experts and local officials to ensure that our facilities meet the highest standards for hygiene and safety, and we have modified our policies and programs to facilitate safe physical/social distancing practices.

Our City Center and Lampeter Strasburg branches will have new operating hours, updated procedures for safety, and a phased reactivation of programming. Camp Shand will remain closed.  Information including our operating hours, policies, and phases will be shared with all of our members as we grow closer to September 14, 2020.

Members were drafted for membership fees in March and for safety reasons we were unable to offer services for the entirety of the month. Due to only servicing our members for half of the month, we feel it is important to welcome our members back without  drafting membership fees for September 2020. We are very grateful for the many donations, letters, kindness, and support  our community has shown. Members will be welcomed back to both of our branches with no fees drafted in September. We will be sharing more information about membership fees and drafting soon.

Pre-K Counts: Half Day and Virtual Options

Our City Center Branch has opened registration for our Pre-K Counts Program. We are now offering Pre-K Counts as a virtual option to better support the diverse needs of the families in our community. For more information about our Pre-K Counts program, please email Melissa Adams at

NEW! Kids Club: School Age Child Care

While the school year may look different than before, our Kids Club program offers a familiar place where children can be safe, active, and engaged, and that parents can feel good about. Located at our City Center Branch, Kids Club offers Monday-Friday child care for school age children from 8:00 am- 3:30 pm beginning on September 8, 2020. ELRC funding may be available to families that qualify. More information about our Kids Club will be available soon and posted on our website.  Please contact Melissa Adams at with inquiry and to register.

We are so incredibly grateful to the people and families who have stood by us throughout these challenging times. You were here for your community when it needed it most and we are here for you. We cannot wait to welcome you back. Together, we’re a better us.
