Safety Around Water Day at the YMCA
The YMCA is “America’s Swim Instructor” and the most accessible community resource to prevent drowning and encourage a lifelong enjoyment of swimming. With three branches across Lancaster County, the Lancaster Family YMCA is in a unique position to support our community through swim lessons for all ages, competitive youth swimming teams, adaptive swim programs for children with special needs, and invaluable water safety classes.
Safety Around Water Day – May 5
On May 5, we’re offering Safety Around Water classes at our City Center YMCA, Lampeter-Strasburg YMCA, and YMCA at New Holland to families across Lancaster County.
These classes are geared towards children who have not had previous swimming or water safety instruction and cannot jump into the water and exit on their own. These classes will give children an overview of water safety skills and provide parents with an assessment of their child’s current skill level and needs.
Safety Around Water classes on May 5 are are offered at no cost but registration for the class is required and can be completed at any YMCA branch or through the YMCA’s online program registration portal.
