No registration fee, no shirt, no medal, bring your own water and food and just enjoy being with family and friends in the great outdoors while supporting our neighbors living in Lancaster County who are recovering from the effects of cancer.
Thanks to advances in cancer prevention, early detection, treatment, and follow-up care, more people than ever before are surviving the disease. However, cancer survivors often face many physical and emotional challenges as they try to move past the residual effects of cancer treatments. Studies have shown that exercise therapy is one of the best ways for cancer survivors to overcome fatigue, increase their energy and reclaim their health and wellness.
LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is an evidence-based, 12-week physical activity program where participants are led through group and individual exercise sessions by a Y Personal Coach trained to meet the needs of cancer survivors. This program is offered at our City Center YMCA, Lampeter-Strasburg YMCA and YMCA at New Holland branches free of cost to cancer survivors (of any type of cancer) across Lancaster County.
